About the role
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Center Director and all center staff to ensure that the center continues to provide quality childcare by maintaining a stimulating, nurturing and safe environment for families and children. He/she will build and maintain professional collaborative relationships with all center staff while fulfilling their ECE teaching responsibilities.
The Assistant Director will take on the responsibilities of the Center Director during her absence.
Location: Learning Jungle Mapleview
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Assist the Center Director in the daily center operations and take over the Center Director's responsibilities in her absence.
- Be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, inviting and stimulating classroom while providing support to the Director & all center staff as needed.
- Positively and respectfully interact with children in the assigned classroom that is reflective of Learning Jungle’s teaching philosophy and play-based pedagogy.
- Establish and maintain a professional and supportive relationship with the families through regular and frequent communication.
- Establish and maintain a supportive and professional relationship with all staff by presenting oneself with a positive attitude and creating open communication.
- Attend and participate in planning and staff meetings, recommended training programs and workshops, and assist in cascading industry knowledge and best practices to staff.
- Complete all necessary documentation within the classroom and center office.
- Enforce all policies and procedures, by being a positive role model.
- Other duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and education requirements:
- Must have a recognized diploma in Early Childhood Education, or an equivalent, as established by the Ministry
- At least 3 years of ECE teaching experience in the classroom
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Knowledgeable and able to interpret the Child Care and Early Years Act
- Familiarity with most of the significant daily administrative routine of the Director
- Knowledgeable with emergency, health, safety and serious occurrence policies and procedures of the Center
- Able to deal with parents and center staff on any matters that require the Director's attention
- Demonstrated understanding and passion for the growth and well-being of children, and see them as competent, capable, and curious individuals who are rich in potential
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and enhance knowledge and skills
- Ability to build and lead a team
- Ability to manage stressful situations
- Strong interpersonal skills and displays a professional demeanor
