The Curriculum Multimedia Developer develops and deploys online interactive instructional multimedia for Open Learning courses and other on-campus groups. This position supports and collaborates with other media and production specialists. The position manages the development and implementation of interactive multimedia in a variety of online formats. The Curriculum Multimedia Developer supports Instructional Designers, subject matter experts, and other faculty and staff with learning technologies and educational media.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs, develops, produces and coordinates implementation of responsive cross-platform interactive instructional multimedia and learning environments for Open Learning and campus, ensuring that they are fully adaptable to a wide variety of devices.

Finds, repurposes and/or develops open educational multimedia resources under Creative Commons and related regimes; makes recommendations and participates in the development of storage and content sharing tools with the use of metadata systems and repositories.

Oversees final implementation and quality control of multimedia, including testing and adjustments as necessary to ensure proper functioning of interactive multimedia including in live server environments.

Supports and collaborates with graphics designer and video producer to achieve coordinated approaches to media development and implementation including providing assistance with basic video and graphic tasks when required.

Based on a broad and in-depth knowledge of instructional media and technology, analyzes needs and makes recommendations to Instructional Designers, subject matter experts, faculty and staff on pedagogically sound interactive multimedia for online courses, programs and other educational offerings.

Participates in course and program planning teams related to new development and maintenance of existing curriculum or other education focused projects, including handling of issues related to coordinating, scheduling and managing implementation of multiple projects under time-sensitive conditions.

Utilizes project-tracking software and participates in constant quality improvement of media team workflows related to the work with Instructional Design, Editing, Copyright and Production teams as well as campus clients .

Operates in server environments for testing, production, and hosting of interactive educational multimedia, and communicates with technical server specialists concerning needs related to the smooth functioning and updating of host environments.

Builds capacity in interactive multimedia by developing and delivering workshops and other hands-on training for campus and online faculty.

Supports the Learning Technology and Innovation Team by identifying, analyzing, testing, evaluating, and reporting on existing and emerging learning media technologies and their appropriateness for use in online courses and programs, and in training others in the use of these technologies.

Participates in relevant conferences by attending and presenting on practices and emerging developments in Open Learning and educational media.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
-
Bachelor's degree in related field such as Digital Media/Arts; Learning Technologies; Instructional Development; Information Technology
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years' related experience in an interactive multimedia role, including:
- Three years' experience in educational multi-media
- Two years working in a complex development and production setting requiring strong project management and coordination skills
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

Demonstrated proficiency in the following programing environments HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP

Demonstrated proficiency in user interface design and ability to create in multiple media formats (audio, video, and graphics)

Demonstrated skills in e-learning, collaboration, and communication software such as WordPress, H5P, Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate

Ability to create and edit sound, video and graphics media

Ability to perform effectively as part of a project development team

Ability to interpret curriculum requirements into appropriate educational interactive applications for LMS/external environments

Communication and conflict management skills that are effective, courteous and tactful

Ability to manage timelines using project management software for multiple concurrent and complex projects

Ability to exercise considerable independent action and make sound decisions

Advanced understanding of user interface design, media formats (audio, video, and graphics), and appropriate computer applications (e.g. current and emerging technologies)

Ability to operate in Windows server environment, web servers, , remote desk protocols and maintain best practices in workflow and file management
