Position Summary:

The Business Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice and support on a wide range of business law matters, including contracts, corporate governance and structure, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and intellectual property.

This position calls for a strong understanding of the legal challenges businesses face and the ability to provide strategic legal advice to support our clients' objectives. You should be detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and persuasive, with excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice on incorporations, reorganizations, commercial agreements, shareholder agreements, financing, and business structuring
• Serve as primary legal advisor to growing businesses in various sectors
• Assisting businesses to prevent, navigate, and resolve complex legal issues
• Advise on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with provincial and federal laws
• Negotiating contract terms, transactions, and settlements on behalf of clients
• Managing multiple clients, cases, and legal activities that carry varying deadlines
• Collaborate with internal non-legal teams (advisory, strategy, media) to deliver holistic solutions
• Contribute to evolving legal delivery models that prioritize client experience and innovation
• Deliver legal support through modern tools, templates, and team-based workstreams

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in business law, corporate/commercial, or general counsel-type roles
• Proven strength in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
• Ability to navigate client needs with business acumen and practical legal judgment
• Comfortable working in collaborative, tech-enabled environments
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia (or ability to transfer)
