Strive Centre Vancouver is currently looking for Recreation & Outreach Facilitators (Casual/On-call) who can fill shifts that are not covered. Shifts will occur between Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm**.**
The position entails working within Strive Centre's recreation and outreach team, supporting Adults with Developmental, Concurrent Disorders, FASD, Autism, ABI and mental health issues, in a group and one-to-one capacity. The successful candidate would share their time between making connections in the community and linking participants to those connections as well as assisting individuals in the community and in their homes, to work towards their goals, teaching life skills, community integration and social skills.
Strive is a non-profit registered charity providing residential and community inclusion support to children, youth, adults, and older adults throughout the Lower Mainland since 1988. If you can relate to our mission and vision, we want you to work for us!

Pay rate: $25.95/hour *plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.
- Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.
Job Skills & Abilities:
- Awareness of and respect for the human rights of persons-in care
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively with individuals, injuries, and/or complex health care needs
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of community resources
- Interpersonal, leadership and team building skills; take direction and accept constructive criticism
- Respect for professional boundaries
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and is self-motivated
- Organization and time management abilities. Meets deadlines and prioritizes workload.
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to act in accordance with established policies and procedures in the event of emergencies
- Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- The ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments
Job qualifications include (if you do not have all of these, but demonstrate you are a good fit for the position, Strive may be able to assist you to acquire some of these requirements)
- Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- MANDT Training will be offered in-house
- Food Safe Certificate
- 2 professional references

Strive Living Society (formally Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society) is a registered nonprofit organization that provides community and residential services for children, youth, adults, and seniors with diverse abilities.
Founded in 1988 by a Psychologist and Social Worker with the shared belief that even the most challenging individuals could live successfully in the community, Strive began as a modest group home for three young adults with developmental disabilities from the former Woodlands Hospital.
Today, Strive serves not only adults with developmental disabilities, but also children, youth, and seniors with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complications, mental health issues, autism spectrum disorders, behavioural obstacles, and/or dementia. In addition to residential resources, Strive operates drop-in centres, community-based programs, and home-based services.
Strive’s service area has expanded from North Vancouver to Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, as well as the Sunshine Coast. Most of our programs are fully CARF accredited.
This grass roots agency now serves over 600 individuals, with headquarters based in beautiful Burnaby, BC.
