Our team
The Income Support Unit is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to clients in need. The team consists of Social Workers, Support Workers, Program Support Worker and the Finance and Program Administration team, all working collaboratively to deliver services in income support, crisis management, and case management. With a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, the team ensures that clients receive compassionate, client-centered support tailored to their unique circumstances.
Your role
Income Support Services is looking for a Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker you will work alongside Social Workers to assist with crisis management and interventions, support the development and implementation of case plans, and ensure clients have their basic financial needs met. You will work closely with other community agencies to coordinate services to enable clients to meet their basic needs.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who works well both independently and as part of a supportive, diverse, multidisciplinary team. They are flexible, adaptable and have values grounded in a strengths-based approach, are creative problem solvers and are comfortable supporting individuals where they are at. Finally, they thrive in a setting that adheres to best practice standards, upholds ethical standards of the profession, prioritizes inclusive practice, cultural awareness and humility, and has a strong commitment to continual personal and professional growth.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations in the social services sector.
- Recent experience providing support to individuals who are in crisis through interventions that align with best practices in conflict resolution, suicide prevention, and de-escalation techniques.
- Experience implementing case plans in a proactive and supportive way consistent with a person-centered, strengths-based, culturally appropriate and trauma informed practice.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
- Sound ethical decision-making skills
- Strong communication, case management, crisis intervention skills, and assessment and de-escalation skills

- Self-awareness with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships through collaboration and consultation
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated, with an ability to produce effective results
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- An innovative approach to problem-solving with a commitment to providing quality client service and a culturally safe environment.

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- Vulnerable sector RCMP security clearance.
- Class 5 drivers licence Naloxone training within 6 months of hire.

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

This position needs to work in a variety of work locations and occasionally in people’s homes.

Requires flexibility and adaptability to support clients during unpredictable, high stress situations, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviour

Job stressors may occur from potentially working with individuals who have experienced a wide variety of struggles such as trauma, substance use, depression, etc.
-
During the winter there is exposure to extreme weather and road conditions.

Transporting clients is a component of this position
