Our Lands and Facilities Department is currently seeking individuals with experience performing janitorial tasks and maintenance work to join the Parks Janitor team. Parks Janitors help keep our buildings clean and presentable for patrons to enjoy, performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and polishing floors, dusting, cleaning windows and washrooms, performing minor building service tasks, such as replacing fixtures, emptying receptacles, maintaining washroom supplies, and setting up buildings for daily use. Parks Janitors also assist patrons by answering routine requests and providing information relating to the facility and patrolling the building and adjacent grounds. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include up to high school graduation, with some related experience in janitorial or custodial work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of standard janitorial care and maintenance tasks, including the methods and equipment required, and sufficient strength to perform the work. They will be able to understand oral instructions and have strong customer service ability while interacting with patrons. Skill in the operation of equipment and understanding of general regulations governing the facility is also required. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required. Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check.
Pay Rate: $27.30 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2024 Rates)
Location: Various Locations
Hours of Work: This is an auxiliary position; hours and shifts vary depending on operational requirements and are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Shifts may be scheduled at any time, including evenings, weekends, and overnight hours.
