About the role

The Granite Club is hiring a full-time Junior Tennis Performance Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the development of all young tennis players under the age of twelve at The Granite Club. This includes planning and implementing structured training programs, communicating with parents, and ensuring planning and the smooth execution of in-house tournaments and events. This role bridges the gap between entry-level development programs and the high-performance pathway, integrating Tennis Canada 5C’s of Development into Red, Orange, Green, and regular ball programming. Parent education is also a key component of this role. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have a strong coaching background, and demonstrate the ability to foster a positive and high-performance environment for young athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee lesson plans for young players, ensuring alignment with best practices in junior tennis development.
  • Establish and communicate weekly training themes to parents to ensure alignment between coaching goals and family expectations.
  • Design and implement a structured program pathway to guide the progressive development of junior players.
  • Create and maintain annual program plans to ensure long-term player development and structured progression.
  • Integrate the Tennis Canada 5C’s of Development into Red, Orange, Green, and regular ball programming to enhance player growth and engagement.
  • Working within the High-Performance umbrella and collaborating closely with the High Performance Head Coach on player progress, program planning and eligibility for advancement within the High Performance program.
  • Collaborating with HP Head Coach, schedule tryouts and other integration opportunities for new players to enter programming.
  • Participate in annual program planning meetings and provide timely input for the Activity and Sport Programming Guide.
  • Attend and support junior players during tournaments to provide on-site coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Assist the Tennis Events Coordinator with planning and executing junior events to enhance player engagement and club participation.
  • Recognize and celebrate junior members’ achievements through club communications such as TV screens, ESS newsletters, and bulletin boards.
  • Oversee and coordinate tennis and fitness training schedules, ensuring optimal development for all players.
  • Strategically schedule staffing for programs and coordinate where necessary private lesson requests for juniors' part of the program.
  • Awareness of revenue and expenses as they relate to the tennis budget for scheduling.
  • Manage facility bookings as required for training sessions, events, and tournaments.
  • Collaborate with High Performance Head Coach, coaches, fitness staff and other departments to align training regimens with overall athletic development.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for parents, providing regular updates on player progress and program initiatives.
  • Maintain records of player progress and assessments to track development over time.
  • Work closely with the High Performance Head Coach to ensure all junior programming aligns with club and Tennis Canada standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High Performance Coach 2 Certification (Tennis Canada Certified Coach) required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant industry experience in coaching, program coordination, or junior player development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young athletes in Development, 12 and Under Progressive Player development, or high-performance tennis environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities to engage with parents, athletes, and club stakeholders.
  • Ability to create engaging and structured lesson plans tailored for young players.
  • Proficiency in managing tournament schedules and player development tracking.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills to work effectively within a high-performance coaching team.
  • Availability to attend tournaments and coach on weekends and evenings.
  • A passion for developing young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence in junior tennis.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
