About the role
Summary of Duties
The Data Analyst in the Release of Information Department is Responsible for:

Providing timely response to requests for Release of Personal Health Information for all type of requests such as: Patients, insurance, legal, medicals, etc.

Provide support to Risk Management by processing records required for medical/legal investigations
-
Accurately track Release of Information Requests Using the Winrecs application system
-
Ensure that requests are processed within established timelines.
-
Generate weekly & monthly reports to identify outstanding requests.
-
Generate invoices or statement for payment for services.
-
Answer phones;
-
Review charts to identify documentation requested and flag for photocopying.
-
Access the Electronic Patient Record System to retrieve and print necessary patient information.
-
Access Patient Care System to validate patient demographic information, visits, attending physician, etc.
-
Access the departmental chart tracking & deficiency system to reserve and locate charts.
-
Liaise with Medical Staff to ensure completion of documentation required to process a request.
-
Submit referral forms and pertinent patient information to other facilities.

Prepare patients’ record for Review and Capacity Board

Process MyChart ROI requests
-
Process MyChart delegate approvals
Qualifications/Skills:
- Completed Diploma in Health Information Management (HIM) from an accredited college, required
- Certification in Health Information Management with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), required
- Active member in good standing with CHIMA
- Recent experience in a Health Records Department – Release of Information environment is a definite asset
- Proven sound knowledge of Personal Health Information Privacy & Security related acts & guidelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and maintain good public relations with physicians, patients and other hospital staff
- Sound judgment and diplomacy
- Proven ability to respond effectively in stressful situations
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Effective time management, and resource management skills; able to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
