About the Role:

SCCSS is seeking a Summer Student to join our Thrift Store team and help create a welcoming, organized, and inclusive retail environment. As the Thrift Store Worker, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of the store, assist customers and donors, and work alongside volunteers to ensure a positive shopping experience. This is a great opportunity for students interested in retail, community engagement, and contributing to a social enterprise that directly supports local programs and services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the cash register and handle store opening and closing duties, including pricing and researching items as needed.
  • Support volunteers with receiving, organizing, sorting, and pricing donations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both customers and donors.
  • Assist with program administration and clerical tasks as required.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the efficient operation of the Thrift Store.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of SCCSS by participating in organization-wide initiatives as requested or as interested.
  • Stay informed about SCCSS programs and services.

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in dynamic environments, with a flexible and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable using new technologies and working in situations that require adaptability.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of the dynamics of violence against marginalized individuals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on operational needs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Additional Information:

  • Successful completion of a criminal record check is required.
  • This position is based at the SCCSS Thrift Store.
  • Role involves lifting and moving general supplies or equipment; the ability to lift up to 20 lbs is beneficial but not mandatory.
