Job Synopsis

This salaried position is responsible for keeping up with inventory flow in a fast-paced, high capacity setting. The Receiver will oversee and work alongside staff and volunteers receiving and processing donations of goods at the receiving door. This position will work closely with the Manager and Production Coordinator to maintain a flow of goods. This position is required to work Saturdays.

  • 2-3 years receiving/retail experience,
  • Customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Requires >6 hours of intermittent standing or walking in a regular workday.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and able to reach upper shelves with use of a stool or ladder when necessary.
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS operations)
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Valid AB Driver’s License

Preferred:

  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Awareness of second-hand market, retail trends and merchandising.
  • Warehouse organization and knowledge of/experience with inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Processing (70%)

  • Oversee all tasks associated with the efficient flow of donation from receiving areas to processing areas.

  • Complete the initial sort (dividing donations into saleable and non-saleable) for all donations (ideally on the day of donations received).

  • Ensure the prompt removal of unsellable donations, as garbage or through re-cycling or other options.

  • Inspect, store and ship unsold product that is being sent to other locations or organizations to ensure it is properly packaged and meets the required criteria.

Receiving (25%)

  • Become knowledge in health and safety regulations regarding donations and applying those regulations to all donations.
  • Work with Management staff to oversee the development and promotion of gift-in-kind receipting. Record donor’s contact information when tax receipts are required.
  • Assist donors and customers in loading and unloading of donations and product.
  • Work with Managers in the responsibility of waste management and recycling
  • Take proactive actions to maintain clean and safe workspaces that meet the criteria set out by the Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
  • Share responsibility in coordinating efficient use of receiving area in consultation with the Production Coordinator.
  • Remove donations, debris and snow from exterior receiving area; maintain receiving are clean.

Other (5%)

  • Assist at the cash desk as required. Perform shop opening and closing duties of the shop as required.
  • Perform other job duties assigned.
  • Emptying garbage, breaking down boxes, filling dumpsters, cleaning warehouse, including washrooms and kitchen.

Base salary: $53,000
