The location in Crofton, (British Columbia, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Accountant. This job is full-time permanent.
The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller and is accountable for the efficient delivery and reporting of financial information. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in month-end processes and related accounting assignments. This position participates in key initiatives and provides manufacturing cost, operating and financial analysis to support business decisions. The Senior Accountant also plays a key role in the development of the annual operating plans for the mills. Strong leadership, communication, and variance analysis skills are vital to this position, as is the ability to build a working knowledge of the mill’s cost structure and processes.
Key duties for this role include:
- Project Accounting functions- tracking and reporting for the following:
- Capital Projects (Capital AFE)
- Major Maintenance Projects (Maintenance AFE)
- Responsible for the processing and reporting of monthly transactions for the following manufacturing costs:
- Maintenance M&S
- Operating Labour
- Maintenance Labour
- Preparation and reporting of monthly latest view forecasts for the Crofton mill for maintenance M&S and Capital costs.
- Preparation of account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
Requirements
- University degree in accounting and/or working towards the completion of the CPA program
- 3+ years of professional accounting experience which involve internal and external financial reporting
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, able to utilize all necessary functions to perform an efficient approach of data analysis/modeling/reporting
- A customer-focused approach to dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and attention to detail
- Possess situational awareness of surroundings with the ability to adapt to new and changing environments
- A high sense of urgency
- Experience with SAP is considered an asset
- Experience with consolidation reporting is preferred
The salary for this position is CAD $65-85k per year. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience
