Job Title: Business Analyst – Retail

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to join our team in a fast-paced retail environment . This role plays a key part in aligning business goals with IT solutions by analyzing data, streamlining processes, and supporting the development and implementation of retail systems. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with retail and IT stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
• Analyze sales, inventory, customer, and supply chain data to uncover trends and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Develop process maps and workflows using tools like Visio to visualize retail business processes (e.g., POS, inventory management, order fulfillment).
• Create and maintain complex Excel reports and dashboards to support decision-making across departments.
• Support the implementation and enhancement of retail systems including ERP, POS, CRM, and e-commerce platforms.
• Conduct functional and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
• Facilitate clear communication between technical teams and non-technical retail users.
• Coordinate retail technology projects by managing timelines, resources, and deliverables.
• Utilize SQL to query databases and generate reports that inform business decisions.
• Use Unix shell scripting (Bash) for task automation and data processing related to inventory and operations.
• Monitor KPIs and provide actionable insights to merchandising, operations, and marketing teams.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst , preferably in a retail or consumer goods environment .
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) .
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, and advanced formulas.
• Experience working with retail systems such as POS, ERP, CRM, or e-commerce platforms.
• Proficiency in database design and querying using SQL .
• Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools .
• Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall).
• Ability to create comprehensive documentation including business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
• Proficient in process mapping tools such as Visio .
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with Bash scripting is an asset.
