JOB PURPOSE

The Refrigeration and Ventilation Mechanic is responsible for performing refrigeration and air conditioning work at the journeyman level.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must hold a Provincial Certificate of Qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.
• Must have two years experience.
• Must have valid drivers license.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Refrigeration and Ventilation Mechanic is responsible for:

• Installing, monitoring, troubleshooting and servicing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Testing and calibrating equipment for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Reclaiming refrigerants and oils
• Repairing appliances such as refrigerators, freezers and coolers
• Performing minor repairs for building systems and equipment
• Keeping and maintaining records and documentation
• Organizing and coordinating the work of contractors or other tradespeople
