RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures efficient operation and authorization of all payroll activities and processing of Queensway Carleton Hospital and partners on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Develops, implements, oversees, and maintains all aspects of the Hospital’s payroll program, ensuring continued alignment with legal regulations and legislation, industry best practice, internal policies, and collective agreements.
  • Leads preparation and remittance of regulatory reporting, including the monthly third-party reconciliations (e.g. EHT, WSIB) and annual MDC to HOOPP, Public Disclosure report and processing and balancing of T4/T4A’s.
  • Leads the administration and reconciliation of the Hospital’s pension plan to ensure data integrity and accuracy; and facilitating resolution of issues and problems, prioritizing positive client experience.
  • Promote a productive and efficient team environment where Human Resources staff are recognized as a highly regarded and trusted sources.
  • Identify new and innovative ways to utilize systems to gain efficiencies and automation.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources team, advise and oversees the implementation of collective agreement bargaining updates.
  • Advise leadership on payroll programs and policies.
  • Prepare specialized communication including yearly memos and calendars
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources, Payroll, or Benefits Administration
  • 5 years’ experience overseeing payroll within a public sector OR 8 years’ experience in lieu of formal education
  • Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP)
  • Knowledge Employment Standards Act, Employment Insurance Act, Canada Pension Plan Act, Income Tax Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Public Sector Compensation Restraint to Protect Public Services Act, Wages Act
