The Community Safety and Well-Being Branch of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General has a challenging opportunity for two dynamic, flexible and influential professionals.
These positions will work to support the Community Safety and Well-Being team to improve the health and safety of Saskatchewan residents by researching, developing and assessing community safety and well-being programs, services, and initiatives in a collaborative team setting. These positions provide technical support for community safety and well-being programs and initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in the role.
Primary responsibilities for the positions include:
- Providing support to develop, manage and evaluate community safety and well-being programs and initiatives;
- Working in collaboration with Community Program Managers and Project Coordinators to engage with local officials, police, First Nations, service providers and other community leaders;
- Providing legislative, research, and policy support to the Community Safety and Well-Being team;
- Interpreting data, policies and procedures;
- Developing outcome measures that can be consistently applied across community safety and well-being partnerships;
- Coordinating and facilitating information sharing and data sharing between human service agencies; and
- Assessing and identifying training needs and developing curriculum and delivering training on a variety of community safety and well-being issues.
Our candidates of choice will have both knowledge of and demonstrated ability in:
- Systematically searching and assessing statistical, financial and other data to develop informational materials and diverse reports and/or make decisions about the application of policies and procedures;
- Independently assessing your own and other’s workloads taking into consideration changing priorities, tight deadlines, multiple reporting relationships and constant interruptions;
- Creating, formatting, and editing a variety of visually pleasing, clear and presentable documents using various software applications/packages within required/reasonable time frames;
- Compiling, evaluating, and organizing relevant information to respond to inquiries, produce in-depth documents or reports and make recommendations and/or decisions; and
- Accurately referencing, interpreting, and applying acts, regulations, policies, and guidelines to daily operations.
The incumbents will work closely with a provincial team and will emulate collaborative and integrated attributes. Tact and exceptional interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite for this position.
This position involves occasional travel throughout the province, including northern Saskatchewan. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel is required.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through a bachelor's degree in social sciences or an equivalent combination of directly related experience and training, combined with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in the community.
