Position Overview:
H3M Environmental Ltd. is seeking a motivated and skilled Automotive & Equipment Mechanic to join our growing team in Fort St. John, BC. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in equipment repairs, including trucks, trailers, ATVs, UTVs, and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet & Equipment Maintenance:
o Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid level top-ups, and tire rotations.
o Identify and implement preventative maintenance on vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and other equipment
o Utilize manuals and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve malfunctions with H3M Fleet vehicles.
o Adhere to manufacturer recommendations to meet warranty requirements.
o Perform minor vehicle/equipment maintenance within scope, identify when tasks are out of scope and need to go to mechanic/specialist.
o Provide guidance and support to solve issues with crew leads when traveling in the field
o Removal and installation of H3M-branded decals on trailers, equipment, and fleet.
Fleet & Equipment Coordination (including Rentals):
o Coordinate with parts suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components.
o Dispatch pick-up/drop-off of vehicles and equipment when third-party shop involvement is required.
o Update vehicle maintenance tracker daily with status of equipment.
o Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure all assets are safely returned to the field within a timely manner
o Update tag-outs with notes on field schedule.
o Ensure all maintenance schedules and receipts are tracked within Samsara application.
Safety & Quality Assurance:
o Perform quality control road tests to ensure vehicles are road-safe and equipped for fieldwork.
o Understand and advise of safe operations and performance of all fleet and equipment.
o Contribute to a safe working environment by maintaining organization throughout the shop.
o Ensure all tools and equipment are serviced properly and fully functional.
o Adhere to H3M’s Safety Manual and Provincial OHS regulations.
o Monitor and assess potential hazards. Complete Hazard IDs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance protocols and procedures.
- Participate in training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with team members to improve overall fleet management and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Support emergency repair operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive repair is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience and knowledge across a range of gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment, including passenger vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, and snowmobiles
- Familiarity with local automotive vendors and suppliers
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, suspension, steering, brakes, and other automotive systems.
- Ability to identify vehicle and equipment malfunction and/or technical or safe driving/operation-related issues.
- Knowledge of truck and equipment safety, workplace safety requirements, safe operation of various equipment, equipment maintenance and storage procedures, equipment cleaning standards, and handling hazardous materials.
