Temporary Position

The normal working schedule is 11 hours per day on a 4-week paid rotation, consisting of 2 weeks worked (77 hours of work per week, 7 days per week) followed by 2 weeks of paid rest.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Service Supervisor, the nurse assumes responsibility for a set of nursing care surrounding the physical and biopsychosocial needs of workers at the mining site. Specifically, they are responsible for:

  • Organizing and providing care to workers with physical or psychological medical conditions according to approved collective orders by our medical director.
  • Ensuring a suitable and safe work environment. They perform general medical and emergency care as necessary.
  • Participating in identifying clinical needs, collaborating in the implementation and management of occupational health programs, and conducting necessary case follow-ups with the public health physician.
  • Creating and implementing prevention activities related to health and occupational health and safety.
  • Participating in and overseeing MEDEVAC management, directing new resources, and maintaining physical premises to ensure they are safe and clean as per employer expectations.
  • Ensuring the return-to-work process for employees who have been on disability (light duties, etc.).
  • Conducting training sessions on various topics related to health and occupational health and safety.
  • Performing all related tasks associated with this position.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Minimum requirement of a DEC (Diploma of College Studies) in nursing and being a member in good standing of the OIIQ (Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec).
  • Possession of advanced role training (required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care and/or occupational health.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in expanded role situations (clinic, isolated community).
  • Ability to support the intervention brigade by participating in Emergency Measures in place.
  • Holding a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Assets

  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite software.
  • Possession of certifications in CPR-AED, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), EPICC (Emergency Pediatric Critical Care) first responders, or PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support).
  • Due to frequent interactions with English-speaking team members, bilingualism (French/English) is an asset to facilitate and improve our internal communications.
