About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Plasma Centre Manager to join our dynamic Collections Operations Ont team.

The Collections Operations Ont team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting plasma in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for performing assigned duties associated with the plasma donation and production process as defined by standard operating procedures. You will participate in projects/continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the success of the program. You will also act as an ambassador of the program to promote and contribute to a collaborative and customer-centric work environment.

Formula for success

  • Manages overall operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labour, productivity, quality control and safety measures as prescribed.
  • Responsible for meeting operational cost targets and for identifying opportunities within operations that could potentially generate cost reduction or improve processes while ensuring donor experience is not compromised.
  • Evaluates, plans and ensures allocation of an appropriate number of trained, competent staff and adequate supplies/equipment to planned collection events.
  • Effectively manages team, including appropriate recruitment, coaching, attendance management and disciplinary processes, based on CBS policies, local collective agreements, provincial legislation and management principles.
  • In collaboration with the business development manager, implements and supports an exceptional donor experience program, that will direct and support the recruitment and retention and frequency with which the donors attend this centre.
  • Promotes a framework of continuous improvement and implementation of best practice standards with the team and adheres to the Canadian Blood Services quality management system standards and practices.
  • Promotes collaboration and teamwork to facilitate open communication; effective planning; problem solving; the achievement of required outcomes, and promoting a culture of one-team.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Desired education and skills

  • A university degree in Business Administration, Commerce or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent related management/leadership experience in an operational function.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement considered an asset, more specifically in implementing lean strategies on the floor, combined with the ability to explain it in layman’s terms to frontline staff, etc.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills.
  • Previous experience acting as a spokesperson with the media considered an asset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivational, people and team building skills are essential.
  • Proven Capability for meeting or exceeding performance targets is required.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution abilities are required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Close ties to the community and deep knowledge of the area will be considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in program management, and human resource management in a unionized environment in considered an asset.
  • Bilingual English/French is a strong asset.

What you can expect

  • Shift/hours - 5 days a week, can include weekends. Shifts are mixture of morning, mid day and late evenings.
  • Travel requirements - occasional travel including overnight
  • Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
