Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking casual Customer Service Representative I’s with our Sport and Wellness department. Reporting to the Supervisor, Customer Service, you will provide high-quality front-line service to the guests of MacEwan University Sport and Wellness in a friendly, welcoming manner that promotes a sense of belonging for all individuals and groups coming to the facility, including students, employees, and the public at large.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and coordinating access into and throughout the facility;
  • Identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate services;
  • Completing registration and maintenance processes for memberships, parking, locker rental, towel service, courses and services, and pro shop sales;
  • Managing equipment rentals and set up, laundry and other cleaning;
  • Responding to First Aid emergencies;
  • Completing risk management procedures; and
  • Responding to customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints.

SKILLS

You will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Organizational and time management skills, with high attention to detail;
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills;
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a diverse range of clients and colleagues;
  • The ability to work without direct supervision and remain calm under pressure, in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Proficiency with computers and various software, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and SharePoint.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a 1-year college certificate in physical education, public relations or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, financial transactions, and the fitness and physical education fields.
  • Certified in Intermediate First Aid/CPR C and Automatic External Defibrillator.
  • Certification in Oxygen Therapy is considered an asset.
  • Experience with IntelliManager software is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, shifts are primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays with some daytime shifts.
  • The successful incumbent will be required to obtain a Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check at their own cost.
