South Bruce Grey Health Centre is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Occupational Health Nurse to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) provides case management to effectively ensure a safe and timely return to work of employees with both work-related and non-work-related injuries, as well as long term illness with the support of an Occupational Health Physician. The OHN in collaboration with the manager determines suitability of work based on functional abilities and job demands analysis. The OHN performs physical and cognitive demands analyses and basic workstation ergonomic assessments and is responsible for collecting and maintaining confidential medical information to support the payment of sick benefits and time away from work. The OHN collaborates with Human Resources to assist with attendance management. The OHN ensures South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s obligations are met under applicable legislation such as the Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and privacy legislation.

This position provides back-up support to the Rehabilitation and Occupational Health & Safety Consultants.

Position Qualifications & Prerequisites:

  • Registered Nurse or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant health profession with Disability Management diploma or Occupational Health Nursing certificate or equivalent
  • Recent experience with WSIB and non-occupational claims management with minimum 3 years’ experience in a unionized health care setting
  • Certification or equivalent experience in workplace ergonomics an asset
  • Demonstrated excellence in working in a team-work environment, as well as independently
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills combined with demonstrated people leadership skills
  • Familiarity and experience in working within the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Human Rights Code and privacy legislation
  • Ability to effectively facilitate difficult conversations and to handle difficult and stressful situations to produce proactive and positive outcomes
  • Ability to maintain confidentially, discretion and professionalism
  • Working knowledge of OMA/OHA surveillance and exposure management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a diversified workload often with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, analytical thinking and initiative
  • G class Driver’s license and access to a vehicle; travel may be required to all hospital sites
  • Recent satisfactory performance and good attendance record
  • Knowledge of and adherence to SBGHC Values: Teamwork, Empathy, Accountability, Mutual Respect and Safety
  • Requirement to be on site at one of SBGHC’s four (4) locations
