Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and visionary Engineering Director to lead our multidisciplinary engineering teams across nuclear projects in Canada. This role will oversee Electrical, I&C, Mechanical, and Civil/Structural engineering disciplines, ensuring technical excellence and successful project delivery. As an Engineering Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading complex engineering efforts for nuclear facilities including Nuclear New Build, with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and innovation. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working with Ontario Power Generation (OPG), either as an employee, contractor, or consultant, and possess deep knowledge of Canadian nuclear standards and practices.
District Overview Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is a full-service engineering, project management and construction provider operating across North America. Location This position is based in Ontario, Canada, with flexible work arrangements available. Occasional travel to project sites and OPG facilities will be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for engineering teams across Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Civil/Structural disciplines.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet Canadian nuclear regulatory standards (e.g., CSA N-series, CNSC requirements).
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison with OPG and other key stakeholders.
- Drive technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across all engineering functions.
- Oversee resource planning, team training and development, and performance management for engineering staff.
- Support proposal development, project planning, and client presentations.
- Ensure integrated and optimized project delivery through effective coordination across disciplines.
- Encourage and challenge the engineering team to drive “fit for purpose” solutions while being fully compliant with nuclear codes and standards.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, vendor documentation, and technical specifications.
- Identify and manage risks, scope changes, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement and collaboration within the engineering organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil); Master’s degree preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
- Active OPG security clearance.
- Minimum 20 years of engineering experience, with at least 10 years in nuclear projects.
- Direct experience with Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Knowledge of Ontario Power Generation’s processes, procedures, tools particularly the ECC process, AS9 (Asset Suite 9), EBOM etc. Knowledge also of Bruce Power processes, procedures and tools will be an asset.
- Fully trained in all the CBT’s and other applicable training programs to deliver the role under OPG’s design qualifications and Project Management program.
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
- Deep understanding of Canadian nuclear codes and standards (e.g., CSA N290, N299, N285).
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis tools relevant to each discipline (e.g., ETAP for electrical, FEA for mechanical, structural analysis software).
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in nuclear environments.

- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
