The MSC Canada team is currently seeking a Senior Fisheries and Commercial Manager to join our team.

Successful fisheries and commercial outreach lies at the core of the MSC program and plays a crucial role in driving participation. In this position, you will be responsible for promoting MSC certification and establishing connections with fisheries, retailers, and seafood businesses. Your goal will be to encourage sustainability and certification, ultimately safeguarding our oceans.

To excel in this role, besides sharing our enthusiasm for our oceans, our ideal candidate will possess the following key skills and experience:

  • A relevant post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience, preferably in fisheries, marine biology, commerce, or a related field.
  • Ideally, some experience working in or with the fishing sector, retail sector, or an environmental organization.
  • Knowledge of the seafood industry, with a strong preference for candidates who have existing contacts and networks in the field.
  • Excellent communication skills across various media, along with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written French and English.

The MSC is committed to flexible working. The preferred location for this position is in Quebec or the Maritime provinces*, and the successful candidate would work remotely from a home office.*

If located in Toronto, the successful candidate will need to work from the Toronto office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month The remaining time can be worked from home.

Over 700 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries. Through partnerships and collective endeavour, we are on a mission to end overfishing.
