Locum coverage is required for a busy family practice providing primary care and urgent episodic care in the treatment room in the Pender Island Health Centre. http://www.penderislandhealth.ca/. 

In this position you will join one other family physician and a nurse practitioner in this well-equipped clinic including an EMR. The clinic forms part of a larger health centre including community nurses, public health, lab collection, optometrist, dentist, physiotherapist, massage therapist, chiropractor, crisis and mental health counselors, and extensive community volunteer programs.

While meeting patient needs, there is flexibility to establish clinic hours and workdays to suit your practice model. On-call responsibilities are shared 1:4 with colleagues on Mayne and Galiano Islands.

Community Information

Pender Island, one of the Southern Gulf Islands, is situated adjacent to Vancouver Island between Vancouver and Victoria. Pender is comprised of two islands – North and South Pender – joined by a single-lane bridge over a narrow canal. Combined with a large retirement population, there are a growing number of young families amongst the 2,500 permanent residents. Pender Island also experiences a significant influx of part-time residents and summer tourists.

There is a strong community feeling on Pender Island and a wealth of activities including choir, theatre, community hall, and a wonderful range of outdoor activities from golf, to sailing, diving, hiking and gardening in a sunny Mediterranean type climate (BC style!).
