Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the General Manager of Community Services leads the delivery and management of community services including recreation, regional parks, community parks, and cultural services. Develop and implement annual and long-term service strategies, operational plans, budgets, policies, and bylaws in support of department and strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities

Leads the operations, planning and development of PRRD parks to the objectives of the Parks and Trails Master Plan.

Manages facility service agreements; oversees annual funding requests and provides risk management advice.

provides technical advice and support to communities and organizations for the development and management of recreation and community facilities and programs.

Represents PRRD on a variety of committees relating to department service functions and at regional, provincial, and First Nations meetings.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:

Post secondary degree in Public Administration or a related discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years related experience at a supervisory level preferably in a unionized local government setting.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Additional Information
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch. Regular travel within PRRD, and attendance at evening and/ weekend meetings and events is required.
This exempt position offers a competitive salary range of $128,478 - $151,150, benefits package and an excellent team. About Peace River Regional District
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) was established in 1967, and is geographically the largest regional district in BC, encompassing over 119,000 kilometers. The PRRD is situated on the traditional territory of the Dane-zaa (Beaver), signatories of Treaty 8 and the Metis Nation BC Region 7.
The PRRD serves seven incorporated communities and four electoral areas that represent over 40 unincorporated (rural) communicated. The are eight First Nations communities with District boundaries, which also include part of the traditional lands of the McLeod Lake Indian Band.
