Summary
We are recruiting for an Application Specialist for our Measurement Instrumentation and/or Isolation Valve & Actuation team, based in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Application Specialists, you will be handling customer inquiries and requests directly, solving customers valve and actuation challenges through sizing and selection of appropriate equipment, and evaluating opportunities where additional Spartan solutions may add value.
You will be communicating with customers almost exclusively by phone and/or email. A positive, outgoing personality, combined with strong communication, relationship building skills, and work ethic will enable opportunities for you to create a preference for Spartan solutions through the presentation of technical proposals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting with company business growth through customer sales.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to develop and propose innovative technical valve solutions for the process industries and projects throughout Western Canada including Power, Municipal, Chemical, Food & Beverage, and Oil & Gas Industries
- Use various software and business systems to assist customers with product requests, ensuring the appropriate product selection, sizing, and specifications are met based on the intended application
- Produce quotations, bid proposals, document packages, and order control equipment with regular customer communication and follow-up
- Monitor and maintain awareness of product line modifications and technical specifications
- Build strong and lasting Customer relationships through strong collaboration while providing an exceptional Customer experience
- Support customers with maintenance and servicing of existing Valve & Actuation products and/or Measurement devices, proposing replacements or adjustments when needed
- Build and maintain strong internal working relationships within Spartan and our Principals, recognizing individual’s unique skill sets and contributions
- Presentation development and delivery
- Support formal and informal customer & internal training
Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering Degree/Technologist Diploma, or equivalent
- 3-5 years industry experience an asset
- Willingness to learn architectures and technical specifications
- Accountability for customer relationships/satisfaction
- Exposure to a Sales and/or Marketing environment would be an asset
- Cooperative nature, ability to see the big picture and manage individual vs team/business goals
- Ability to multi-task, focus on objectives and modify your schedule in a dynamic environment
- Proficient in Word, Excel and other MS Office Tools
- Technical writing experience an asset
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skill set
- Manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic work environment
- Comfortable working proactively in a highly motivated, innovative team environment
- Embrace change; this is a fast paced, ever evolving area of our overall Spartan business
