Buyer – and we are looking for a dynamic professional to join our team!
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor – Supply Management, you will be responsible for the procurement of those commodities assigned in accordance with the City of Thunder Bay “Procurement of Goods and Services" under Chapter 187 of the City of Thunder Bay Municipal Code (By-law 220-1993).

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Minimum secondary school graduation or equivalent combination of education, recent experience and training, including either “Supply Chain Management for the Public Sector” or “Procurement and Supply Management” course (as approved by the Supply Chain Management Association); or “Introduction to Public Purchasing” course plus “Competitive Bidding” course (as approved by the Ontario Public Buyers Association); and
- Experience in the purchasing field and related purchasing procedures with a broad knowledge of industrial commodities is required
- A good understanding of computer systems and proficiency in the use of microcomputers and related software
