About the role

Overview

Acts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, facilitating patient flow throughout the inpatient or clinic visit. This may involve booking, registration, preparing a patient for an examination and arranging post-visit follow-up. Acts as receptionist and performs clerical duties including data entry as related to ANSOS and CCIS. In addition, maintains statistical information for various patient care areas within the Health Services. Relates to patient and their families in a professional and courteous manner and interacts collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary staff to provide patient centered care.

Education

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent educational preparation.
  • Post secondary education preferred.
  • Training related to office administration/office coordination.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant recent clerical experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures, terminology and equipment in medicine/ respirology/

oncology services preferred.

  • Knowledge of ADT, Powerchart, Teletracking, PTAC systems preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 35-45 wpm.
  • Computer literacy required; demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and discretion in matters related to patients, staff and hospital affairs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an extremely

fast-paced environment.

  • Evidence of ongoing education (e.g. seminars, workshops).
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and attention to detail while providing high standards

of accuracy and efficiency.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Body Substance Precautions and Back Awareness training.
  • Will be expected to work in all areas of respiratory, oncology and medicine areas.
  • Excellent and attendance record required.
