Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must provide a current and satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector search

  • Must provide a current and satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5 Driver’s Licence

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience working in a commercial cooking environment.
  • Experience preparing and serving well-balanced meals for large groups of people.
  • Experience with sanitation and cleaning requirements in the food service industry.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with individuals at
  • all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
  • Effective written communication skills, including the ability to take clear and legible handwritten notes.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent software.

Desired:

  • Must possess and maintain a Food Handling Certificate (Level 1) or have the ability to obtain upon hire.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, the Food Services Worker performs a variety of tasks related to delivering the meal program within housing facilities managed by Manitoba Housing. Responsibilities include preparing and serving meals, cleaning the dining area, utensils, and equipment, driving and delivering meals and catering items, ordering and restocking supplies, and maintaining basic records related to the operation of the meal programs. While the role allows for some independence in carrying out assigned duties, a high level of cooperation is required when working with the building’s Tenant Association, meal program committee, and program volunteers.
