About the role
As a Welder Fabricator at Contrans Maintenance Group, you will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and repairing various types of equipment and structures. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and facilities by performing tasks such as chassis service, structural repairs, and equipment refurbishment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding and Fabrication

- Perform welding tasks on structures and equipment using various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding).
- Fabricate new structures and components based on blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Modify and enhance existing equipment to improve functionality and safety.
- Equipment Repair and Refurbishment

- Conduct thorough inspections to identify structural damage and wear on equipment.
- Repair and refurbish equipment, including chassis, frames, and other structural components.
- Ensure all repairs are completed to the highest quality standards, maintaining safety and functionality.
- Maintenance Support

- Assist in the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and other equipment as needed.
- Work collaboratively with mechanics and other team members to complete tasks efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a welder and fabricator, preferably in an automotive or trucking environment.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in welding and fabrication are preferred.
