What you'll be doing
As the Senior Product Manager, Product Strategy and Research you will report to the Director, Product Strategy and Research. You will be a key member of the broader Product Management team providing various analysis and support on key initiatives and projects. You will be the key lead in the development of the ETF support model such as providing trading ideas, support new launches, monitoring performance and flows of both CIBC ETFs and the competitive landscape. You will help support the development of new product ideas, from concept to design. As a key member of the team you will help support multiple product management functions across all investment vehicles, but with a particular emphasis on ETFs.

How you'll succeed
- Competitive Intelligence - Key contributor in a small team with responsibilities related to industry and market intelligence. Analyze the investment industry to identify trends and understand how these findings impact CIBC Global Asset Management (GAM’s) business. Perform market, industry and product research and analysis to identify and assess strategic and tactical actions and implications for GAM. Develop, maintain and evaluate reports to communicate insights on industry trends such as asset flows to mutual funds (and other investment vehicles), industry fund categories and product types, primarily within the Canadian market. Maintain and enhance comprehensive competitive information packages on market penetration, product capabilities, trends and developments of competitors.
- Product Research - Responsible for conducting extensive and in-depth analysis on both GAM products and competitors (mutual funds, ETF’s, alternatives, etc.) and present findings to internal stakeholders. Develop research to contribute to the development of new products or product enhancements. Lead the performance review process of all GAM products. Assist with comprehensive research into investment themes and topics.
- Product Management / Positioning - On-going support of all product management functions which includes identifying opportunities for our sales teams. This includes creating product positioning pieces and providing product marketing support around focus funds or other solutions on the product shelf. Other related tasks include running and reviewing peer group / category analysis reports, developing marketing documents/collateral, deep dive into a competitor product, white papers, etc. Present and communicate various research and findings to the sales channels on a regular basis. Assist with the communication of product information through training and marketing programs/campaigns. Participate in the development and ongoing management of both strategic and tactical plans and contribute to the successful execution of these plans.
- Cross-Functional Relationships - Collaborate and interact with multiple internal partner groups to achieve business objectives. Internal Groups will typically include, but may not necessarily be limited to Product Development & Management group, Distribution and Product Marketing. Work more closely with National Accounts and the ETF team in supporting these channels/businesses.
Who you are
- You have a degree in Business or Finance.
- You’re a certified professional. It’s an asset if you are a CFA candidate/charter holder or has other industry accreditations (e.g. CFP, CIM, CSC)
- You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.
- You’re an industry expert. You can demonstrate experience and strong knowledge of exchange-traded funds, detailed knowledge of the financial services industry, preferably in asset management, strong knowledge of investment and mutual fund products, as well as regulatory environment. You have knowledge of current financial markets and an understanding of the forces that influence them. You have the ability to source data, manipulate the data sets if applicable and analyze/interpret the results. You have extensive financial and investment modeling capabilities.
- Technical Skills. You have experience with Morningstar Direct or similar databases preferred. You are proficient/has a strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.
