Job Summary

The Registrar’s Office (RO) is a large, multi-unit, multi-site operation involved in the entire academic experience of Dalhousie students, from recruitment and admissions through to convocation and beyond. Reporting to the Manager, Enrolment Systems Operations and Reporting, the Functional Analyst will carry out functional process analysis as well as project management to implement identified solutions and improvements for the full suite of information systems used by the Registrar’s Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects end-to-end including development of relevant documentation (e.g. project request and status documents, business requirements, and functional specifications).

  • Complete thorough business process analysis. This includes working closely with functional areas within the Registrar’s Office to identify user requirements, and researching and implementing appropriate solutions.

  • Provide guidance and expertise to managers in regards to system upgrades and when analyzing the implications of system modifications with respect to current processes.

  • Lead configurations, and oversee complex business processes within the BANNER student system.

  • Seek out and research new initiatives and best practices in information technology and post-secondary environments, sharing identified information with colleagues and, as appropriate, users.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in computing/systems, plus three to five years’ relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).

  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis, process improvement and project management.

  • Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

Assets

  • Experience with Banner.

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment.

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software
