About the role

Our Division & Communities

Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

We honour the spirit, life, and lessons this land and its ancestors teach us. We acknowledge the traditional land and territories of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuutina, and Îyârhe Nakoda as well as the Foothills District and the Rocky View District within the Battle River Territory of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of Alberta.

Applicant Eligibility

Forming part of Round 3 of the certificated staffing cycle for the 2025/2026 school year, the Foothills School Division welcomes all interested candidates to apply.

The Role

This is a unique, blended role that will work at two separate schools as outlined below:

  • Cayley School (0.5 FTE) - classroom teaching grades 7 & 8 (morning)

  • Joe Clark School (0.4 FTE) - Music for Kindergarten to grade 5 (afternoon)

The Candidate

As a member of a highly motivated team and student-centered educator, you are prepared to collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community. Your teaching practice includes the ability to design and plan learning activities that transfer, and develop thinking competencies. Further, your practice assesses individual student variables to inform the design of meaningful and experiential learning opportunities and effective assessment practice.

Your ability to foster effective professional relationships with student, families, staff and community is critical. You demonstrate a willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities and support students in the whole school experience that characterizes effective schools. Your capacity to integrate technologies and and support experiential learning that connects students to community resources within Maker-centered learning, CTF and CTS learning environments is evident.

Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8,200 students in junior kindergarten (pre-kindergarten) through grade 12, and employs more than 900 teachers and support staff who are focused on our common goal of “Improving Learning for ALL Students.”

Located on the City of Calgary’s southern border within the Municipal District of Foothills, the Division encompasses the Towns of Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond and Turner Valley as well as the communities served by our Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights (DeWinton), Longview, Millarville and Red Deer Lake (south Calgary) schools.
