Hours per week: Up to 24 hours per week (current hours anticipated to be 24 hours per week)
Status: Part-time (Regular)

This position works non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.

Located in Barrie and reporting to the Manager, Athletic Operations, the incumbent provides event and administrative support to Recreation Coordinator for campus recreation intramural and extramural activities on the Barrie Campus. This includes supporting the planning, organizing and execution of programming. The position will require ability to work non-traditional hours, evenings, weekends. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Supports student intramural, extramural recreation programming and events

  • Organizing registrations, scheduling programs (e.g. weekly drop-in programs), coordinating recreation equipment required for sports and activities
  • Monitoring inventory and making purchase recommendations
  • Rock wall belay testing and maintenance (cleaning, organizing and stripping of rock wall)
  • Officiating and score keeping
  • Attends and contributes to department/college wide meetings and GCSA meetings to ensure student programming and activity needs are achieved
  • Supports student-athlete on-boarding and meetings

Acts as a first point of contact for students at select intramural and extramural (Ontario Collegiate Recreation) tournaments and intercampus events.

  • Offsite travel and student athlete on-site support incidents/accidents, protest, code of conduct support as needed)
  • Ensures that required paperwork is submitted for offsite tournaments (eligibility, rosters, concussion sign offs)

Assists in the promotion and marketing of Campus Recreation programs.

  • Adhering to college social media policy, acts as the game day social media point of contact.
  • Posts live updates for programs and activities.
  • Assists in website updates, recreation event registrations, and promotions, creates content and posts to Instagram, TikTok and X to connect with current and future students

Coordinates Student Engagement Feedback

  • Coordinates and solicits student feedback and input into recreational and intramural programming
  • Compiles information and makes recommendations to meet needs/requests
  • Assists in the evaluation of programs and as requested, prepares reports to support this as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully completed a two(2)-year postsecondary diploma in sports management or recreation and leisure studies or a related field of study
  • Two (2) years of experience required in sports and/or recreational programming, including program design, planning, execution and first point of contact responsibility
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
  • High customer engagement skills
  • Penchant for creative thinking
  • Capacity to exercise good judgment
  • Must display a high degree of professionalism
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and Internet
  • Strong organization/communication skills (Oral/Written) with the ability to problem solve quickly in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills with proven public relations abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle unusually high volumes of work with composure and confidence.
  • Cultural awareness of diversified client groups would be considered an asset.
  • Post Secondary work experience would be considered an asset
  • Valid G Licence required
