The Industrial Engineer's key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate new/current processes, investigate and pursue new/improved methods of manufacturing to reduce production costs and establish production standards
- Support new product launches and product transfers
- Active member of all Product Development Teams, supporting teams with process development, documented layouts and time studies
- Investigate and develop any tooling/equipment that will improve operator safety or efficiency
- Ability to conceive design and develop simple work fixtures
- Establish safe production cycle time standards through time studies (MOST, MODAPTS and video time studies)
- Prepare and maintain time study and process sheet information for all products/processes
- Ability to apply concepts of Takt time, Cycle time, PF&D, NVAA, etc.
- Ability to apply line balancing and sequencing to current and proposed processes
- Ability to apply ergonomic analysis and work concepts to operator workstations and material handling equipment. Working with employees to provide
information and training, and obtaining feedback to determine the best possible outcomes.
- Assists in developing material handling logistics (i.e. - Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.)
- Ensure work procedures are per TS/ISO 16949, and IATF standards regarding: quality of work, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and
protection of the environment.
- Ability to lead and participate in team-based problem-solving
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Automotive assembly
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with a variety of employees
- Strong time management skills and the ability to change priorities quickly
- Ability to work a varied shift and overtime as required, at times with little notice
- Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive-related.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer
- Must be able to travel within Canada and to the USA
