Reporting to the Insurance Director, the Risk Analyst will be part of the Corporate Legal and Risk Group and responsible for insurance risk management and reporting. They will also coordinate the procurement and administration of all bonding and claim submissions.
This is a full-time, permanent position that can be based in either the Mississauga, ON or Calgary, AB office. Hybrid options available.
What You Will Be Working On Insurance and Surety Bonds
- Assist with policy renewals including gathering documentation, preparation of underwriting submission and related reports (premium analysis, cost-benefit analysis, loss runs)
- Respond to questions from internal and external sources regarding the corporate insurance program and provide timely risk advice.
- Manage the insurance inbox and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
- Provide assistance to the project teams in the procurement of project-specific insurance coverage and surety bonds.
- Lead the intake of all insurance claims by liaising with project teams and reporting to insurers as necessary
- Monitor accounting and invoice tracking to ensure timely and efficient project insurance and bonding payments across the organization.
- Input incidents in claims management system, track the progress of existing claims, and assist in the preparation and documentation of claims new and ongoing.
- Prepare reports on claims data and analyze trends
- Maintain records of bonds, bond claims, and assist project teams in bond claims management.
- Liaise with the legal team around claims and contractual risk transfer mechanisms, being a subject matter expert on all matters related to company risk tolerance and compliance.
- In collaboration with the Director of Insurance, perform contract reviews for a variety of construction types, incl. utilizing CCDC and owner supplemental forms, and other contract types for compliance and risk tolerance checks.
- Work with project teams to ensure that subcontractors / suppliers comply with applicable contractual insurance requirements.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships and open communication with project teams to reinforce responsible risk management practices and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with subcontractors / suppliers with a strong emphasis on confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Participate in internal training with the business to educate and support in order to promote responsible risk management practices, including traveling within Canada to district offices.
- Communicate effectively with adjusters, brokers and insurers to bring claims to a successful resolution, in alignment with best practices.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in risk management, insurance or a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the insurance industry will be considered
- CIP, FCIP, FRM, or CRM designations or similar an asset
- Highly familiar with Excel functions to perform data analysis (pivot tables, v-lookups, graphing)
- Experience in construction is considered an asset
- Understands the value of continuous improvement recommending new approaches, methods, or technologies to increase efficiencies
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced and steadily changing environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
The compensation range for this position is $90,000 - 110,000 annually. Please note: Artificial Intelligence will not be used in the screening process for this role.
