About the role
We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Research and Development Manager with a strong background in bioinformatics and project management in a startup environment. This position is particularly well-suited for an individual at the outset of their professional career who demonstrate exceptional promise and a strong commitment to advancing translational healthcare research. The successful candidate will bring a growing portfolio of experience in research coordination, healthcare technology design, and interdisciplinary collaboration between clinical and technological environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and evaluate research, development, or production activities, ensuring alignment of current and future technological advancements.
- Develop and implement standards and procedures to enhance laboratory and project performance.
- Facilitate direct engagement with patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring high ethical and research standards.
- Design and implement user-centered research strategies, including stakeholder interviews and qualitative insight analysis.
- Develop customer journeys and patient experience frameworks to guide the design and refinement of clinical tools.
- Assign, coordinate, and review the work of multidisciplinary teams (including but not limited to UI/UX designers, software developers, scientific teams from other departments) to drive results.
- Directly participate in or oversee applied research projects, leveraging advanced bioinformatics tools and current industry standards.
- Prepare and review operational and research reports to ensure high-quality output.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in bioinformatics prefered.
- Foundational knowledge of speech-language pathology and neurological conditions in research or clinical contexts.
- Demonstrated promise of success in business relationship management and cross-functional collaboration with software and product development teams.
- Strong organizational skills, with experience streamlining workflows and optimizing resource allocation.
- Proficiency in tools such as REDCap, Unix, R, Atlassian products and Notion, fluency in GenAI tools as well as Microsoft Office, alongside certifications in GCP and scientific entrepreneurship.
- Experience or training in conducting user and stakeholder interviews within healthcare or technology settings.
- Familiarity with user journey mapping and principles of human-centered design.
- Experience with software systems thinking or architecture tools (e.g., ArchiMate) is an asset.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of operational improvement and innovation.
