Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Wage Category: Annual Salary with Benefits

We are seeking for an experienced Packaging Engineer with at 3+ years of experience, preferably in the cosmetics packaging field. Candidates with strong experience in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry will also be considered.

The Packaging Engineer will perform duties related to the review, development, and implementation of cosmetics packaging product. It is essential that you are familiar with, and adhere to, the company’s or customer’s product standards and specifications to design quality products that represent the company well. You must also keep up with the current trends and consumer needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review incoming 3D and 2D drawings from suppliers, ensuring compliance with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and drawing specifications.

  • Identify opportunities to improve existing packaging designs and development standards to optimize cost, performance, and quality.

  • Conduct product testing and validation, documenting results to ensure all packaging meets necessary specifications.

  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and manufacturing teams to discuss prototype evaluations and required design modifications.

  • Provide technical support for production processes and assist in resolving manufacturing issues related to packaging.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably with direct experience in manufacturing and fabrication plant.

  • Ability to read and comprehend Engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Capability of handling 3D printed samples, like polishing, painting,

  • Skills in using standard measuring tools, like callipers, micrometres, measuring tape; checking tools, like dynamometers, torque meters; hand held rotary tools.

  • Basic knowledge of thermoplastic in injection molding.

  • Basic knowledge of Statistical process control(SPC) in manufactory production control.

  • Ability to create drawings of packaging products using SolidWorks would be good, but in practice the ability to revise and correct drawings from Asia is a big plus.

  • Chinese Communication skill is an asset as the role will work closely with engineers in Asia.
