The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. Our team consists of more than 350 staff members and over 150 volunteers. We proudly serve Belleville, Peterborough, the City of Quinte West, and the surrounding areas in Hastings County, Prince Edward County, and Peterborough County.

Position Summary:
As an Aquafit Instructor, you’ll bring energy and enthusiasm to every class, inspiring members to stay active and have fun in the water. You’ll create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, supported and motivated to reach their fitness goals. By combining effective instruction with a positive attitude you’ll help participants build strength, improve mobility, and enjoy the benefits of aquatic exercise in a safe inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome members to class, making effort to get to know participants’ limitations.
- Plan, lead and instruct members in water fitness classes according to the class description.
- Ensure class design accommodates deep and shallow water exercises and modifications are offered for a range of strength and mobility issues.
- Ensure class design accommodates range in fitness levels, experience and abilities.
What you will bring to the position:
- Lifeguard Certification is an asset
- Current YMCA Group Fitness Instructor (Water Fitness Module) or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience preferred but willing to mentor novice instructor
Working Conditions:
- Able to work early mornings, afternoons and evenings
- Standard First Aid & CPR C
- Clear criminal record check
