Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchasing Clerk located in Pickering, ON. The Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for purchasing processes, creating purchase orders, and maintaining effective communication with suppliers and internal teams. Additionally, the purchasing clerk is responsible for handling customs paperwork and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Qualifications
- Purchasing Processes and Procurement skills
- Experience with Purchase Orders
- Strong communication skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of inventory management systems
- Familiarity with customs software/websites
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus
- Associate’s degree in business administration or related field
Responsibilities
- Create, track, and manage purchase orders
- Identify suppliers and obtain quotes to analyze, compare prices and specifications, and negotiate terms
- Negotiate terms for shipping terms and rates
- Maintain and monitor inventory levels while maintaining records
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments to understand purchasing needs and ensure timely fulfillment
- Maintain communication with suppliers for order status, delivery schedules, and any issues
- Keep purchasing records accurate and up to date (includes purchase orders, invoices, and supplier information)
- Verify the accuracy for invoices
- Ensure legal compliance with customs laws, regulations, and procedures while overseeing various forms
- Understand and provide guidance for import/export restrictions and tariff regulations
- Create shipping waybills and any other necessary forms
- Accurately fill out commercial invoices
- Ensure smooth customs clearance under CUSMA by including all mandatory data elements
