Our roster of leading retailers spans a range of industries and includes some of Canada’s biggest, most recognizable brands. We currently work on more than 400 projects annually – almost an average of one project each day of the year! What you bring to the table
Mechanical / Electrical Technologist or Engineer
Candidates should possess a degree or diploma from a recognized educational institution, as well as expertise in AutoCAD and related automation/design software applications. Canadian experience with HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler layouts including heat gain/heat loss calculations, duct design, plumbing line sizing etc. or Canadian experience with lighting layouts, power layouts, communication layouts, electrical load calculations, single line diagrams, etc. Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and Canadian design criteria.
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a firm preferably retail, commercial and food services preparing and coordinating construction drawings and documents
- Knowledge of construction methodology, building assemblies, building science, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements.
- Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical
- Knowledge of the Ontario / National Building Code
- Knowledge in Zoning bylaws research and application
- Experience in site planning and layout design
- Understanding of the municipal approval process for both planning and building
- High level of proficiency in AutoCAD
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy as part of both a collaborative team and individually
Duties & responsibilities

Preparation of a full set of mechanical or electrical working drawings

Coordination of dwgs with consultants including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical

Preparing site plans and building working drawings and communicating with the municipal planning/building department for application process and address comments

Review shop drawings

Taking on multiple projects at the same time, and being able to meet deadline effectively
For all candidates:
You are a team player with a creative, innovative spirit.
You are comfortable meeting tight timelines while still delivering strong quality work.
Experience in retail and food service design, including knowledge of building codes and accessibility standards, is an asset.
Any relevant professional accreditation, training or advanced education would be an asset.
You must have an aptitude for (and comfort level with) evolving technologies pertaining to retail design.
You need strong organizational skills, a high level of detail orientation, personal accountability and superior time management capability.
