What the role looks like
The Business Systems Analyst is a problem solver who works closely with technology partners and business stakeholders to create technology solutions that fuel growth and innovation.
Core Mandate
- Diagnose and define core business challenges: Proactively elicit, document, and translate complex business needs into precise functional specifications, ensuring a clear understanding of the underlying problems to be solved.
- Identify and optimize inefficient processes: Analyze existing business processes to pinpoint bottlenecks and areas for improvement, then design and advocate for solutions that streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Decipher intricate business logic: Deeply comprehend and interpret complex business rules and processes to effectively identify potential issues and inform robust solution design.
- Mitigate solution discrepancies: Critically evaluate vendor solution documents, performing thorough traceability against initial requirements to identify gaps or misalignments and secure stakeholder consensus on corrective actions.
- Validate solution effectiveness: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to rigorously assess how well systems and applications address identified problems and meet end-user usability criteria, reporting on any deficiencies.
- Bridge the gap between requirements and validation: Guide testing teams in transforming requirements and use cases into precise test conditions and expected results for all testing phases (product, performance, user acceptance, operational acceptance), occasionally conducting full end-to-end testing to confirm problem resolution.
- Anticipate and resolve project roadblocks: Actively contribute to project and product management by accurately scoping efforts, estimating timelines, and proactively identifying and mitigating potential dependencies that could hinder successful problem resolution.
- Enhance solution development methodologies: Drive improvements in requirement documentation, testing frameworks, and enhancement intake processes by establishing and implementing best practices and templates to prevent future issues.
- Ensure seamless solution deployment: Coordinate effectively with Product Delivery and Operational Change Management teams to ensure the smooth and problem-free deployment of new solutions into production environments.
