Position Overview:
A leading operations role in executing critical daily processes to support derivative investments by mutual funds, ETFs and separately managed accounts. The role of an Analyst is to ensure that all derivative transactions that are incoming from various sources are processed into Back office and Middle office applications.
Responsibilities:
- Execute critical daily processes to provide essential inputs of derivatives (futures, options, swaps, etc.)
- Ensure derivative trades flow to accounting system, custody system along with settlement instructions
- Working with traders/investment managers, and custodians/prime brokers to identify, investigate and resolve portfolio discrepancies, overdrafts and money market trade settlement problems
- Perform collateral management and administration; instruction of margin and securities movement
- Ensure highest level of accuracy in processing to avoid and mitigate risk of all sensitive transaction
- Perform daily recon with counterparties on all assets
- Updating Investment Book of Record (IBOR) with trades and corporate action events
- Researching and creating securities investment profiles, valuation models
- Operating and supporting specialist systems
- Ensuring correct and timely post-execution reporting of trade activities, for example portfolio cash management blotters, projections, security trades, margin, and derivative transactions
Qualifications:
- One to three years experience in an accounting/operations related position (experience with mutual funds, securities/investments, cash management and reconciliation is preferred) or middle office (prime brokerage, broker/dealer, bank)
- Experience with processing various securities (fixed income and equities), term loans and/or derivatives instruments (futures, options, swaps, etc.)
- Post-secondary degree in accounting/finance/business/commerce or equivalent
- Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course and Derivative Fundaments is preferred; CFA candidate would be an asset
- Familiarity with Fund Accounting system and Bloomberg,
- Proficiency in PC software such as MS Excel
- Programming/development and data management skills, including experience with VBA, SQL and macros, would be considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail coupled with proven research and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment and deal with fluctuating work volumes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
