As an Emergency Protection Order (EPO) Coordinator, you will monitor all EPOs received by the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and follow up on all procedural steps to ensure officers, external stakeholders and EPO applicants have the correct information to ensure the safety of others. Primary duties will include:

  • Review and track EPOs and Queen's Bench Orders by confirming authorizations, creating tracking files and ensuring the orders have been dispatched for service.
  • Communicate, educate and liaise with external stakeholders, victims and officers to explain type, purpose and alternate means of protection orders.
  • Flag issues between CPS and the courts to ensure all documentation supports victim information and follows policies.
  • Use various CPS and police data systems (for example: Offender Records and Correctional Administration (ORCA), LiveLink, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Palantir, and social media) to locate offenders and monitor calls using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Sentry to ensure service is completed.

Qualifications

  • A 1 year certificate/diploma in Business Administration, Legal Assistant or a Justice related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience dealing directly with police and the courts; OR
  • A 2 year certificate/diploma in Business Administration, Legal Assistant or a Justice related field and a minimum of 4 years related experience dealing directly with police and the courts; OR
  • A degree in Justice, Social Work or related field and a minimum of 1 year of related experience working with police and the courts.
  • The successful candidate must be eligible for designation as a Community Peace Officer Level II.
  • Previous experience using police data systems (for example: ORCA, LiveLink, JOIN, CPIC, Palantir, CAD and Sentry) is required.
  • Previous experience with domestic conflict case management is considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires efficiency and thoroughness, service orientation, stress tolerance and team building and teamwork. An effective communicator with a focus on results and the ability to build strong relationships.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 7 $35.45 - 47.43 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
