Our Shaw Brick division is currently looking for a Customer Service Representative (CSR) to join us at our retail store in Dartmouth, NS.

This is an entry level position in a busy and upbeat workplace in Dartmouth. As a Customer Service Representative (CSR) at Shaw Brick you will be the first point of contact for customers, offering expert advice and support on brick, cladding, and landscape materials. Your role will be to assist customers, including contractors, architects, builders, and homeowners, in selecting the best products for their projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent product knowledge and communication skills, as well as a passion for the construction industry.

Responsibilities

Customer Assistance: Provide friendly and professional customer service by advising customers on brick, cladding and landscape options, helping them find the right materials for their projects, and answering any questions they may have.

Sales Support: Facilitate sales by explaining product features, offering alternatives, and upselling complementary products. Process transactions quickly and accurately. Support the masonry sales in market team.

Product Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of the various types of brick, cladding, and landscape products available. Stay informed on product specifications, installation techniques, and industry trends.

Project Consultation: Work with customers to understand their project needs, providing technical guidance on product application, installation methods, and industry standards.

Inventory Management: Monitor product stock levels, help with inventory control, and ensure that the sales floor is properly stocked and organized.

Order Processing: Accurately process customer orders (in-person, phone, and online), ensuring pricing, availability, and delivery details are correct.

Problem Resolution: Handle customer concerns, complaints, or returns in a professional and courteous manner. Resolve issues efficiently or escalate them to management as needed.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with sales, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines when handling heavy materials such as bricks and cladding, ensuring both customer and employee safety at all times.

Administrative Duties: Maintain customer records, track sales orders, process returns, and manage paperwork to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience in retail or customer service, preferably in construction materials or a related field.

Strong knowledge or interest in brick, cladding, and building materials.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to understand and explain technical product details to both industry professionals and DIY customers.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple customer interactions.

Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Physical ability to handle heavy materials (e.g., bricks and stone products) and work in a hands-on retail environment.
