This position supports the Issues Management function for Capital Markets (CM). By acting as a Project Manager/Coordinator, responsible for supporting the effective management of AML related projects/Issues to completion. Each Issue Management Lead will act principally in the areas of project planning, project monitoring and integrated project management. Key accountabilities are described below:

  • Executes on effective management of projects, principally in the areas of project planning, project monitoring, and integrated project management – independently and as part of a Team.
  • Manages assigned aspects of the project life cycle and works with relevant project stakeholders as required. Assists in the planning, preparation, and maintenance of project team schedules, documents, Management Action Plan updates, maintains project issues logs and databases.
  • Manages Issues from start to finish including Issue Identification templates, Management Action Plans (project plans), monitoring progress, escalations, evidence collection for Issue closure etc. while complying with applicable Enterprise standards (e.g. Risk, Audit, Compliance).
  • Escalates early warning signs and deviations from the plan to the VP.
  • Supports the VP by monitoring and controlling project activities including risk, issues, status, communication, planning and execution.
  • Proposes recommendations and adjustments and publishes periodic project status reports.
  • Maintains project documentation repositories.
  • Performs various project tasks, including leading stakeholder meetings, taking meeting minutes, issuing communication releases, and performing maintenance of project tracking logs (i.e., issues, change control, etc.)

Ability to collaborate with teams across BMO. Ability to demonstrate understanding and management of an issue by actively navigating stakeholder discussions and contributing to the solutioning. Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently while also being able to work effectively in a team environment. Highly proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, PowerBI

Knowledge and Background:

  1. Undergraduate degree (business, finance/accounting, economics or law preferred).
  2. 4‐6 years of work experience in a compliance, audit, risk, or AML function.
  3. Certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist or similar.
  4. Knowledge of Capital Markets products, processes, and the purpose of the Operating Group in a bank.
  5. Knowledge of the importance of AML to a Financial Institution.
  6. Understanding of risk and of control frameworks.
  7. Aware of the regulatory requirements applicable to a Financial Institution.
