JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking Assistant Fitness Floor Staff within the Parks and Recreation Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department. This position assists supervising the fitness floor while promoting enjoyable membership opportunities that are stimulating for all participants. The role is also responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
DUTIES
- Supervise the fitness floor and engage with participants to promote a positive experience and ensure everyone’s safety by maintaining vigilance to minimalize risks.
- Conduct tours of the fitness centre and promote memberships and services.
- Provide a high level of front-line customer service including greeting and engaging participants.
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency.
- Assist in the delivery of fitness programs following required standards.
- Set-up and take-down and monitoring of programs and services.
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports, opening and closing procedures).
- Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately.
- Inspect and clean equipment daily to ensure cleanliness.
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
- Participate in promotional and community events on and off-site as required.
- Maintain an understanding of all programs and services.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce City of Orillia Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
- Attend meetings/training as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED from an accredited organization.
- Additional certifications considered an asset.
- Proven customer service, verbal/written communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team with a positive attitude are required.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC/VSC) is required prior to the employment commencement date, at the incumbent's expense.
Compensation for this position is $17.72 to $18.25 per hour. Successful candidates must be available to work weekends, extended and irregular or non-standard hours as required. Interested applicants are invited to submit an application by July 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
