About the role

Your Opportunity:

This position is based out of the Alberta Children’s Hospital in a very dynamic and fast paced Diagnostic Imaging Department and is responsible for providing and performing the highest quality service possible for the clients of Diagnostic Imaging during MRI examinations. This is done in an effective, efficient and safe manner. As a member of the MRI team, this position is responsible for working all shifts and on-call.

Description:

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy.

Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of CAMRT registry exam in MRI. Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) Enhanced practice for Venipuncture. Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships/teams. Strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaison with various professionals. Perception, initiative, accountability, good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff and physicians. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Ability to effectively communicate in English required. Practices effective infection control and MRI safety techniques as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Cardiac experience preferred. Enhanced practice for Medication Administration. Central Venous Access Device Use Authorization.
