Bluewave Law is a premier Immigration Law firm based in Calgary, AB specializing in Immigration pathways including Canadian Work Permits, Visitor Visas, Super Visas, Express Entry, Family Sponsorship, Business Visitors, and Humanitarian & Compassionate Applications and US non-immigrant visas related to Business Visitors, USMCA professionals, Treaty Trader/Investors, and Intra-Company transfers.
We are seeking an early career Immigration Paralegal who will work to provide essential support to the legal team by preparing and filing immigration applications and managing client files. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of immigration procedures and will assist the team in the preparation and filing of immigration applications ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, superior administration skills, and the ability to handle competing priorities while maintaining high-quality work standards.
Duties
- Maintain and manage an organized, up-to-date case management system.
- Consistent monitoring of the statuses of multiple applications at various stages of the process.
- File documents with government agencies and ensure timely submission of all required materials.
- Track important deadlines, maintain client files, and ensure timely filing of documents.
- Assist the team in preparing a wide range of immigration documents including but not limited to document lists, application forms, supporting letters, and other necessary filings.
- Answer queries and provide regular case status updates for pending applications.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and procedures.
- Conduct thorough research on immigration laws, regulations, and policies to support case preparation and provide necessary information to the team.
- Work closely with attorneys, other paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure seamless case progression.

- Proficiency in legal drafting with a strong understanding of immigration law.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze complex information effectively.
- Strong clerical and administrative skills, including attention to detail and organization.
- Project management abilities to oversee multiple cases simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Effective interviewing skills for gathering client information accurately.
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear and concise legal documents.
- Familiarity with filing procedures for immigration applications and petitions.
- Experience using iManage or similar document management systems is preferred.
Education and Experience Required
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, certificate or equivalent from an accredited institution in Paralegal studies or similar.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as an immigration paralegal is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with immigration software and platforms, and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills can be an asset, but are not mandatory.
