Opportunity: Geotechnical and Materials Engineer
As a Geotechnical and Materials Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of infrastructure and development projects. You will be responsible for managing geotechnical investigations, overseeing field operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring technical excellence in all deliverables. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, effective leadership, and the ability to communicate complex geotechnical concepts in a practical, results-driven environment.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Assist with equipment and software procurement related to geotechnical and materials work
- Mentor junior geotechnical and materials team members
- Assist in business development efforts
- Proposal preparation
- Provide field support, data compilation, data interpretation, technical analyses, and reporting on a wide variety of geotechnical and materials projects including subsurface investigations and site inspection and testing
- Technical writing of letters and reports
- Manage geotechnical and materials projects
- Provide technical review and quality control of geotechnical and materials deliverables
Key requirements include:
- University graduate with a degree in civil or geological engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant geotechnical and materials experience
- Eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Engineers NS
- Strong working knowledge of common geotechnical and materials engineering software
- Ability to self-initiate and solve problems
- Attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication (English) skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
