About the role
As a Line/Prep Cook, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking menu items with precision, consistency, and care. Your role will include active involvement and oversight of the food preparation, prep, and production process in the kitchen, and the following of recipes for multiple products for both dine-in and takeout.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team.

Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.

Ensure food is prepared in a timely, consistent, and high-quality manner.

Support the Kitchen Team Lead with daily kitchen operations and production schedules.

Rotate between prep and cooking stations as needed.

Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before and during service.

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation throughout the shift.

Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and tools in accordance with safety standards.

Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.

Handle food safely and minimize waste through proper storage and rotation.

Support the Kitchen Team Lead with daily kitchen functions and production schedules.

Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth operations.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.

Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, and deli cases throughout the shift.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Market Manager.

Assist with inventory management and stock rotation to ensure freshness and reduce waste.

Maintain accurate records of food, supplies, and equipment.

Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food preparation or customer service preferred.
- A genuine interest in food, ingredients, and culinary trends.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging demeanor.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks safely.
- Flexible availability to meet business needs.
- WHMIS and Food Safety certification (training provided by Sunterra).
Working Conditions:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Exposure to cold and wet conditions in refrigerated environments.
- Repetitive lifting (up to 40 lbs; team lift required for heavier items).
- Use of sharp tools, slicers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional use of ladders or stools.
